Nilsson is a Professor at Dept. of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Stockholm University and Site director, Science for Life Laboratory, Stockholm. He is a globally renowned expert in developing cutting-edge technologies for the disease surveillance and diagnosis. He has developed the padlock and rolling circle amplification technologies and pioneered their applications in translational and cross-disciplinary research in the areas of genomics, cancer, infectious diagnostics, involving collaborations from different biomedical/technical disciplines. Prof. Nilsson is instrumental in many European Union projects and published more than 140 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals such as Science, Nature Genetics, Nature Biotechnology, Nature Methods, PNAS, Analytical Chemistry, Nucleic Acids Research, etc. that are cited over 5600 times. He is the designated inventor of 5 patents and co-founder of Olink AB, Q-linea AB, ParAllele Bioscience Inc., ApiRays AB and EMPE Diagnostics AB.
Pavan is a pharmacist by education but a molecular biologist by training. A Business Administration program in Hospital and Healthcare Management triggered his interest to develop cost-effective but reliable diagnostic methods. His interest is to develop affordable diagnostics that can be used in the first contact point between the doctor and the patient, especially suitable for resource-limited clinical setups. Pavan has by now developed 5 diagnostic platforms: fluorescence-based tests for multidrug -resistant bacteria, antibody-based lateral flow tests for enteric pathogens, colorimetric assay for intestinal pathogens, ATP-based luminescence tests for blood and urinary tract infections, lateral flow and LAMP tests for Tuberculosis. He has published bout 25 peer-reviewed scientific articles and holds 3 international patents in the area of biomedical and molecular diagnostics. As the project manager for an Indo-Swedish bilateral venture, he has been responsible for an investigation and business evaluation of the diagnostic market, establishing the research-technical business network to evaluate marketability, in coordination with the respective consortium. Pavan has developed successful collaborations between researchers and clinicians in Europe and Asia. He is the co-founder of two companies, ApiRays AB and EMPE Diagnostics AB.
Hedvig Bernitz, LLD, is an assistant professor in constitutional law at Stockholm University and, before that, in EU-law at Örebro University. Her main fields of research are EU-law, Swedish constitutional law and Human rights. She is involved in several research projects in Sweden as well as European EU-financed projects. She has also written several textbooks for Swedish law students on different subjects such as Swedish constitutional law and freedom of Speech.
Mona is the CEO of Stockholm university holding AB. She holds a PhD from Stockholm University in biochemistry and is also founder of Glucox Biotech, a pharmaceutical company focusing on a diabetes drug development where she also operated as CEO for several years. She has set up an investment fund Sätila Medtech which invested in several startup companies at the time. Hence, she has a broad experience in business and tech transfer managing and is yearly dealing with a large number of imperative negotiations and licensing contracts.
Jeanpierre is a M.Sc. in Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology, from the Royal Institute of Technology. He has previously worked on developing a molecular assay for detection of viral-like particles using PLA (Proximity Ligation Assay), and QCM (Quartz Crystal Microbalance). He also has experience in microbiological analysis of various water samples, as well as some experience in recombinant protein production/purification at pilot scale.
Jolene is a B.Sc. candidate in Life Science (Specialisation in Molecular and Cell Biology) at the National University of Singapore (NUS). Her passion lies in translational research and commercialisation of technologies. She has collaborated actively with researchers of several scientific disciplines, including infectious and chronic diseases, as well as developed applications for POC (Point-of-Care) diagnostics for Dengue Virus.
