VASIM AHMAD

Vasim Ahmad (PhD) is a Senior Scientist at EMPE Diagnostics India since November 2019. After obtaining a PhD in Microbiology on detection of XDR-TB among MDR-TB suspects from Intermediate reference laboratory, New Delhi, India, he had extensive experience in diagnosis and drug resistance detection of TB. Having gained experience in performing validation of different WHO approved TB diagnosis test, Vasim is a certified internal auditor for medical laboratories as per NABL (15189:2012).

M.Sc, PhD Microbiology, having an advantageous and worthy experience of more than eight years in the field of Microbiology with specialization in Mycobacteriology and certified internal auditor for Medical Laboratories as per NABL (15189:2012). In addition, published research publications in national as well as international journals.
Vasim is actively involved in planning, implementation, execution of performance/ clinical validation of EMPE diagnostics products.
Previously, he managed tuberculosis biosafety laboratory and also performed validation of different WHO approved TB diagnostics techniques at New Delhi Tuberculosis Centre. There, he had responsibilities including the development of standard operating procedures, safety manuals and documents related to laboratory quality control. In addition, training and supervising laboratory personnel, graduate, post-graduate students, trainees and technical staff at New Delhi TB Centre. Vasim had also been given additional responsibility as Deputy Quality Manager to monitor various aspects of laboratory quality and patient care management to ensure implementation of NABL guidelines. As a FIND Technical Officer at New Delhi TB Centre his responsibility included coordination with the Director and Head of TB laboratory of the RNTCP Culture DST site, respective National Reference Laboratories and FIND India technical and administrative staff for smooth implementation of rapid TB and drug resistance diagnosis in TB laboratory.
Also, he have worked with a clinical research organization/ NGO (Apothecaries Foundation) engaged in Clinical Research in partnership with Apothecaries Clinical Research, UCL London and TB Alliance; as Scientific Officer and Quality Coordinator for BSL-3 Mycobacteriology laboratory and Molecular biology laboratory.
